Next up to number 3 of Best action manga 2020 and also top-selling manga 2020. An interesting take on Mr. & Mrs. Smith-style stories. The daughter, Anya, is the one who really drives the story. Her interactions with the cast are a delight to watch, and I always look forward to how she will nudge those around her into performing actions. She really is a child puppetmaster. The “father” and “mother” are also superb and make wonderful tsundere. They are also quite competent.
I really enjoy how even mundane activities are transformed into amazing action spectacles. The authors are really good at writing and drawing action sequences.
In sum, this manga has a great mix of action, romance, comedy, and family themes. I really enjoy it, and would strongly recommend it.
Dr. Stone
Another must go for the next generation shonen manga. It has very good pacing in the story and in taking its time in moments to captivate the audience and help them to appreciate the variety of characters and what they bring to the story. Dr. Stone is one of those sorts of anime that you love even though it’s extremely over the top. It’s realistic while being unrealistic, funny yet with high stakes. It’s set in prehistoric-like times and that’s what’s unique about it. Make no mistake, this is the kind of “you’ll either love it or hate it” anime. It’s got these moments that’ll either make you fall in love with the show because of its execution or make you hate it because of how stupid it might seem.
Tokyo Revengers
You could say that this manga is the combination of the delinquent’s genre and the concept of time travel, all in one: an unlikely combo that ends up working beautifully. It is also about friendship, total roman ship, and the thick ties that connect these guys that go through fights and hardship together. Don’t just read the manga synopsis and decide not to read this, it is MUCH deeper than it so implies.
Tokyo Revengers is a heartfelt series brimming with hope that has given me some of my favorite characters in all of fiction and has easily earned a spot on my top 10 best action manga 2020.
Golden Kamui
I would definitely recommend this manga (or anime if preferred) to any new otaku getting into manga (and anime). The story itself is quite serious and with the mix of the Ainu culture it is a one-of-a-kind manga, but it also has quite a bit of comedy integrated and as you watch the duo’s antics it never ceases to put a smile on your face!. Its excellent dialogue, a plot that gets you invested, and an array of interesting characters make this a wonderful manga to binge and enjoy it goes the same for the anime version as well.
The Promised Neverland
“The Promised Neverland” is a Great Work of Suspenseful Horror. This is a series that I have been reading since it first showed up as on Shonen Jump. It immediately stood out to me as a misfit for the magazine. It feels much more like a Seinen(targeted at young adults) and that’s a good thing! I worried that the adaptation wouldn’t be able to capture the tense and gritty atmosphere but they nailed it! The art style and the delivery are actually a step above the manga so far and absolutely phenomenal. The portion that will likely cover is my favorite in the manga to date so I’m looking forward to seeing the last chapter of it.
